Court Won’t Hear Indiana Woman’s Suit over Flood Damage

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) – The Indiana Supreme Court has declined to hear the case of an Evansville woman who sued the city over flood damage to her home that she blames on a storm sewer pipe.

The Evansville Courier & Press reports (http://bit.ly/1LSdBUn ) Anna White had sought a hearing before the court after the state Court of Appeals ordered a Vanderburgh County judge to rule in the city of Evansville's favor.

White sued the city in May 2012 after it denied liability for flood damage to her basement.

White said her basement flooded during a rainstorm after the city installed a new storm sewer drainage pipe on her property.

She said her home had not flooded for at least 10 years before that pipe was installed.
