FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) — The mother of a Make-A-Wish Foundation girl is charged with fraud and neglect.
Forty-one-year-old Katherine Jackson of Decatur is accused of lying about the girl’s medical condition and not refilling prescriptions for her.
Jackson’s daughter has a disease called Pilarowski-Bjornsson Syndrome, or PBS, but doctors say it is a chronic and not a terminal illness as the mother had claimed. H
er daughters are in foster care.

I surely don’t know the circumstances here, and maybe the mother is a little incapable of knowing them too. For now, Yes, it is probably best that someone protective and responsible take care of Katherine’s children.
Purposefully choosing not to fill prescriptions that will mitigate the child’s symptoms, is appalling. And, depending on the symptom severity this little one may have, she’s likely not participating in other programs that would help thwart the onset of certain PBS issues.
I don’t know this situation, but there seems to be more than “Neglect” here. Suspiciously touching the boundaries of abuse, really.
Make-A-Wish is an incredible orgainisation, with volunteers and supporters that go over-the-top and give so much of their time. They find a way to offer a glimmer of joy, happiness and even a little hope, to those that will not know this world much longer..
They attempt to make the most perfect day for their person, knowing the future heart-break the family & friends will know.
To sign up for this..
1) You need all sorts of professional documentation.
2) You are stating your person is terminal.
Mrs. Jackson may have had future plans, after their event.. and so, Neglect sounds a little light.
Further investigation required!
I was one of many that offered services and donated to Make a Wish for many years. In fact since the child was 2years old. the whole town showed up for this sweet little girl. I can’t believe that someone would prey on the kindness of so many or exploit and neglect their child just to get money and free gifts. Make a Wish is an organization close to my heart because when my grandson was 2 he was diagnosed with leukemia. MAW sent him on a Disney trip. It was the trip of a lifetime They covered absolutely everything. They also bought Christmas gifts for him and his 3 sisters. They were really wonderful. This was the other reason I was more than happy to give back. When I saw this news story I was hurt more than angry. Both myself and this wonderful organization had been dooped. I was also worried for this little girl and her sister. The mother had them convinced that this little girl was dying and going to heaven. What an awful burden to put on her and her little sister. They are in foster care now but the damage can never be undone. This is the second time Jackson has committed this type of crime. I hope she goes to jail for a long time and that the kids get placed in a normal loving home.
