Elderly woman dies from injuries in mid-June crash

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): An elderly woman died as the result of injuries from a single-vehicle crash.

At 3 p.m. on June 15, 91-year-old Maggie Futrel was driving her car near the intersection of McKinnie and South Anthony roads.

She was speeding, lost control of her vehicle and hit a tree, according to police. She was pinned in her vehicle for some time and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

Futrel died on June 21, according to the Allen County Coroner’s Office. It ruled her death as an accident due to blunt force trauma in a motor vehicle crash.

She’s the 20th fatal motor vehicle crash in Allen County in 2016.
