The Evansville Courier & Press (http://bit.ly/1zQROHD ) reports 29-year-old Antonio D. Handley was sentenced Thursday according to terms of a plea agreement. He had pleaded guilty but mentally ill to accusations that he stabbed 49-year-old Darryl Foster to death with a pocket knife.

According to an arrest affidavit, Foster was killed in his apartment by Handley in May 2014. A report from the coroner's office said Foster had multiple stab wounds in his upper torso.

Several members of Foster's family testified that he was turning around his life and was trying to help Handley.
