Farm Bill Legislation Could Affect Animal Treatment

State laws protecting animals and workers could soon change. An amendment to the Farm Bill is being considered in congress. The amendment would give power to the federal government in regulating the treatment of farm animals, workers, and the environment. But Paul Shapiro, vice president of Farm Animal Protection for the Humane Society of the United States, says there isn’t any pending legislation that would replace current state laws and that the legislation could also affect the sale of agricultural products.
