Fatal Garrett shooting “person of interest” caught by police

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A 20-year-old man is in custody after a fatal shooting that happened Tuesday afternoon in Garrett.

Indiana State Police Sgt. Ron Galaviz tells WOWO News that Branston Secrest led Fort Wayne police on a brief car chase, then a foot pursuit, before being caught at around 5:45pm near the intersection of Harris Road and Krista Street in Fort Wayne.

Police identified him as a person of interest in a fatal shooting that happened at about 2:15pm Tuesday at a home near Garrett Middle School and Garrett High School, which forced those schools to go into “lockout” mode for a half-hour.

A man’s body was found inside the home by police, with “multiple” gunshot wounds, according to KPC News.
