Fort Wayne police responded to a report that an infant had been injured in a home in the 100 block of Pontiac Street on Monday. The infant later died.

Court documents reveal Carrillo told police he spanked the child and then tripped and fell, causing the infant to hit his head on the floor.

The Allen County Coroner’s Office ruled the infant’s death a homicide caused by blunt force injuries of the head.

Carrillo is held in the Allen County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
