Former Catholic School Teacher To Receive Compensation in Discrimination Lawsuit

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A federal jury has found the Fort Wayne – South Bend Catholic Diocese guilty of discrimination toward former St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School teacher, Emily Herx. According to our partners in news at 21 Alive, Herx will receive nearly $2 million in compensation.

Herx claims she was fired after the Fort Wayne – South Bend Catholic Diocese discovered she was using in vitro fertilization to get pregnant – a process that's banned under Catholic Doctrine.

Herx took the case to court this week. The diocese plans to file an appeal as the diocese continues to contend she violated the terms of her contract.
