Fort Wayne Fire Department Promotes Michael Harley to Battalion Chief

PRESS RELEASE:FORT WAYNE, IND., December 5, 2012 -The Fort Wayne Fire Department (FWFD) promoted Captain Michael L. Harley to Battalion Chief.  The swearing-in ceremony took place at 11 a.m. this morning at Citizens Square and was officiated by City Clerk Sandy Kennedy.

A 17-year veteran of the department, Harley has served as a Captain in the Combat Division since 2001.  Captain Harley also served as a member of the FWFD’s Specialty Operations Rescue Team (SORT) for 12 years and was the team’s shift leader for three years.

As a Battalion Chief, Harley will assume supervisory roles associated with his assigned Battalion area; a predetermined response zone and the stations within the zone.  Harley will also respond and assist as needed in other FWFD battalion zones throughout the city.
