Fort Wayne Man Sentenced to 6-years for Summer Shooting

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne man has been sentenced to 6 years in prison for a summer shooting.

On Monday, 32-year-old Curtis Haywood was sentenced in Allen County Superior Court after he plead guilty to shooting a man, who was sitting in his car on Winter Street.

According to the Journal Gazette, the victim told police Haywood opened the car door and suddenly punched him in the face. Haywood then shot him twice, one of those shots hit the victim's stomach. The victim's identity has not been released, but the individual recovered in the hospital for 10 days.

Other serious charges against Haywood, including aggravated battery, were dismissed at the sentencing.
