Fort Wayne Sets Record for Low After Record Snow

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) _ The city of Fort Wayne has set records for a new low temperature for the date a day after setting a snowfall record.
 
The National Weather Service reports the temperature hit 13 degrees below zero in Fort Wayne on Monday, breaking the previous record for the date of 12 degrees below zero set in 1970. The city in northeastern Indiana also set a record Sunday for snowfall on Jan. 5 with 9.5 inches of snow, breaking the mark of 3.5 inches set in 1954.
 
Record snowfall for the date also was set Sunday at Indianapolis International Airport, where 11.4 inches of snow fell. The previous record was 3 inches set in 1977.
