FWCS Beginning Plans for $128M Renovation Plan

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Major renovation could be coming to Fort Wayne Community Schools.

The school board is considering a plan that would bring $128 million of improvements to 10 schools, with as many as 42 schools receiving some sort of work.

The significant work would be done at Northrop and Wayne High Schools. Also on the priority list, are Lane and Shawnee Middle School plus elementary schools.

FWCS spokesperson Krista Stockman told WOWO News, the board is still working through the plan, but would likely unveil the first look at its Oct. 29 meeting.

If the plan is approved by the board, it would be introduced at a series of public open houses in November before a public hearing in December.

The plan would still need to pass voters in a referendum in May  2016.
