FWCS officials brace for next round of ISTEP testing

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): It’s that time of year.

The next round of ISTEP testing starts Monday for Fort Wayne Community Schools, but that announcement didn’t come without some controversy during last night’s school board meeting.

Our partners in news at 21Alive report some board members responded poorly to a presentation about this year’s test, which will be given to students in grades 3-8 and high school sophomores in two phases. Critics say they just got the 2015 test scores last month, and that’s not enough time for teachers or students to prepare for the next round.

A little more than half of Indiana students passed both sections of the newer, more difficult 2015 ISTEP.
