FWFD Responds to Apartment Fire on Columbia Street

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to an apartment fire last night on the 800 block of Columbia Avenue.

Crews received the call just after 7 p.m. on reports of a small fire on the roof of the complex. Out of the four apartments in the complex, only person was present in the building. That person made it out safe as firefighters quickly attended to the roof-fire.

The complex only suffered minor water and smoke damage.

The Fort Wayne Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire. According to a press release, they believe the fire was caused by discarded smoking material.

FWFD reminds all residents to properly dispose of all smoking materials.
