Germanfest Returns to Fort Wayne Next Week, Pre-Festival Events Underway

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Germanfest is set to return to Fort Wayne next week, and pre-festival events are already underway across the city, according to WPTA.

The station reports pre-festival activities began Sunday with Schnitzelfest at Fort Wayne Turners and will continue through Wednesday, culminating with the German Heritage Society’s “Abend” event from 6 to 9 p.m.

According to WPTA, Germanfest officially begins Thursday at Headwaters Park and will feature traditional German food, beer, music, entertainment, games and cultural activities.

Festival hours are scheduled from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, WPTA reports.

Admission is free daily from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., as well as for children younger than 13, active-duty military personnel, veterans and all attendees on Sunday. Admission from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. is $5, according to festival organizers.

WPTA reports a complete schedule of pre-festival events and additional information about Germanfest is available through festival organizers.
