INDIANA, (WOWO): Get ready for another busy travel holiday period as Triple A Travel is projecting that more than 98 million Americans will journey 50 miles or more during the holiday season. That's the highest forecast growth rate since 2009 and the highest travel volume for the holiday period on record.

In Indiana, there will be 2-point-2 million travelers this year, which is more-than a five percent increase from last year, with most Hoosiers driving.

There are two factors that affect the increase. The first is gas prices, which are the lowest they've been since October 2009. The second is because Christmas and New Year's Day are on Thursdays this year, creating a holiday travel season that is one day longer than last year's season.
