ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO):  According to the Allen County Police Department, 21-year-old Derek Franz, of Monroeville, was pronounced dead at the scene of a single car crash Saturday night. 

The accident happened around 10:30 p.m. on Hoagland road. Franz was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash and he was thrown from the car.

According to the Allen County Coroner, Franz died from blunt force trauma.

As of right now police are thinking that alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, but they’re still waiting for toxicology results. 

Franz is the 31st traffic fatality for Fort Wayne and Allen County this year.
