House fire found to be accidental cooking fire

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) – The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to reports of a house fire Thursday night. 

The Fort Wayne Fire Department says they arrived around 8 p.m. to a house with flames showing from two sides in the 300 block of Williams Street. 

Three people were able to evacuate from the home on their own, and two cats were rescued from the fire. However, one cat was found deceased. 

Reports say the fire was found to be an accidental cooking fire. 

21 Alive News says the home faced moderate fire and water damage as well as heavy damage from smoke.
