FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Fort Wayne fire crews were called to a house fire Monday night on Short Street near Wells Street where the occupant, while outside, saw fire coming out of a window on the side of the home. The person tried to extinguish the fire and was injured from a broken window. Firefighters got to the scene and put the fire out within 5 minutes. Investigators determined the cause of the blaze was the result of mishandled smoking materials next to combustibles.
