NATIONWIDE, (WOWO) — The median income in the United States is 81-thousand dollars per year according to the latest data from the Federal Reserve.

Wallet Hub recently released a list of states with the highest and lowest average incomes.

Virginia was number one, followed by New York and New Jersey.

West Virginia had the lowest income levels.

Indiana came in 33rd on the list, Ohio was 27th and Michigan was 22nd.
