CONNERSVILLE, Ind. (AP) _ An eastern Indiana city could sell a large empty factory to a company for $1 as part of a deal for it to hire more than 300 workers.

Connersville’s city council and redevelopment commission approved resolutions Monday night giving the company three months to decide whether to finalize the agreement.

Mayor Leonard Urban tells the Connersville News-Examiner the company would have at least 309 workers at the factory in five years to buy it for $1.

The factory has been vacant since auto parts maker Visteon closed in 2007 and was where Carbon Motors had planned to build high-tech police cars until its plans fell apart last year.

Attorney Rick Hall tells the Palladium-Item that the Minnesota-based cabinet maker would spend $12 million on improvements and equipment at the factory.
