ANDERSON, Ind. (AP): A central Indiana mall's recent posting of signs asking visitors to lower their hoodies when stepping inside the building has offended some of the mall's patrons.
The signs at the entrances of the Mounds Mall in Anderson states that, “For the safety & well-being of everyone, please lower your hoodie.”
Mounds Mall general manager Braun Roosa says the mall's hoodie rule dates to 2004, but the signs reminding patrons of the rule were posted in December.
Roosa tells The Herald Bulletin local police asked the mall to post the signs for security purposes.
Twenty-one-year-old Ranny Hinton Jr. of Anderson says he's offended by the signs. He says it's mainly younger people who wear the hooded sweatshirts and the sign doesn't mention anything about ski masks or other facial coverings.
