Indiana Reporter Ordered To Produce Notes For Murder Case

ELKHART, Ind. (WOWO): A reporter for a northern Indiana newspaper has been ordered to surrender interview notes and recordings from a story written in late March. In a subpoena issued on Wednesday, Elkhart Truth crime and courts reporter Emily Pfund has been ordered to appear in court for testimony surrounding a felony murder investigation. A prosecuter for the Elkhart Circuit Court filed a notice that would require Pfund to produce “any and all written notes and/or memorabilia, and audio and/or video recordings … relating to any contacts with one Freddie Rhodes, or information that has come from Freddie Rhodes or is attributed to have come from Freddie Rhodes.”

19 year old Freddie Rhodes is charged with felony murder in connection with a deadly robbery in Elkhart County on September 11th, 2014.

The Elkhart Truth will fight the subpoena.

The newspaper is owned by Truth Publishing Inc., a sister company to Federated Media, the owner of WOWO Radio.
