INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WOWO) — Trappers reached Indiana’s first bobcat quota just a month after the season began, hitting the 250-animal limit.

The season started November 8 and was scheduled to run until January 31 or until trappers reached the quota.

The season followed former Governor Eric Holcomb signing Senate Bill 241 in March 2024, which required the DNR to create a bobcat hunting season by July 1, 2025.

Sen. Scott Baldwin authored the bill, which passed despite concerns that Indiana’s bobcat population—once endangered until 2005—wasn’t ready to support hunting.
