INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WOWO) – A fatal shooting during a robbery on Indianapolis’ near east side has led to the arrest of a 19-year-old woman.
Zion Johnson is charged with murder, attempted robbery, and conspiracy to commit robbery in connection with the mid-October 2024 shooting of tattoo artist David Young.
On October 19, police found 38-year-old Young with gunshot wounds at a home on North Oxford Street. He later died at the hospital.
Witnesses at the scene of the murder claim Johnson was part of the group that attempted to rob Young during a tattoo appointment, leading to his shooting.
Police found evidence inside the home, including blood and shell casings. Texts between Johnson and Young about a tattoo appointment led police to her.
In an interview, Johnson first said she was alone but later admitted she was with others during the robbery. She claimed she tried to stop the shooting, but texts showed she knew about the plan.
Johnson’s first court hearing is scheduled for Friday, and she is being held without bond.
