MIAMI COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO) — Indiana State Police have launched an investigation into the death of an inmate at the Miami Correctional Facility.

According to the ISP Peru Post, detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division were called to the facility on Friday, December 5, to investigate the death of 38-year-old Anthony Barbee. Officials have not released details about the circumstances surrounding his death.

The Miami County Coroner’s Office and investigators with the correctional facility are assisting in the case. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause of death.

State police report that Barbee’s family has been notified. The investigation is ongoing, and no further information is being released at this time.
