Kokomo Ranked One Of Nations Best GMP

KOKOMO, Ind. (WOWO): Several Indiana cities have been nationally ranked for their local economy. 

The Kokomo metropolitan area has been ranked 61st best in the nation for Gross Metropolitan Product (GMP).  The United States Conference of Mayors picked Kokomo as one of the best out of a total of 363 metropolitan areas, citing strong economic expansion and a five percent growth in GMP.

“The Kokomo economy continues to outpace the state and national economies,” said Kokomo Mayor Greg Goodnight. “Our community is thriving at the same time we are making quality of life investments for our residents. Kokomo’s job market is one of the best in the state, and our housing stock remains one of the most affordable in the nation.”

Other Indiana cities ranked on the list include Columbus (9th), Elkhart-Goshen (43rd), Anderson (57th), Indianapolis (110th), Fort Wayne (119th), Joliet (126th), Lafayette (144th), Bloomington (206th), Muncie (257th), South Bend (286th), Terre Haute (296th), and Evansville (333rd).
