FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Fort Wayne Komets will be kicking off the first round of the Kelly Cup Playoffs at home.

After snagging three points in three games for the second consecutive week, including an exciting 5-4 overtime win Saturday night over Wichita at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum, the Komets have improved to 43-18-5 and 91 points with six games remaining in the regular season.

The second-place Komets trail Toledo by 8 points in the Central division. Cincinnati holds third place with 75 points, while Kalamazoo and Kansas City are tied for fourth at 70 points each.

If the Playoffs were to start today, Toledo would face either Kalamazoo or Kansas City, while Fort Wayne would play Cincinnati in the first round.

The Komets will complete their season series against Kansas City when the Mavericks visit Wednesday. The Komets are 1-3-1 against the Mavericks this season.
