Man charged in murder of 5-year-old

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne man has been arrested over the death of a 5-year-old boy earlier this month.

The Fort Wayne Police Department tells WOWO News 28-year-old Danial Pope was arrested Monday and charged with murder for the March 8th death of Benjamyn Frederick.

The Allen County Coroner says the child died at an area hospital due to a loss of oxygen from multiple blunt force injuries and “neck compression.” Essentially the child had allegedly been badly beaten and strangled.

Pope’s motive was not provided by police.
