Lafayette Man Gets 52 Years on Child Molestation Charge

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) – A Lafayette man will spend more than four decades in prison for molesting an 11-year-old girl.

Twenty-nine-year-old Payton Jarrard was convicted of child molesting last month. He pleaded guilty to being a habitual offender.

Jarrard was sentenced Monday to 52 years in prison. He was given a 42-year sentence for the molesting conviction and an additional 10 years for being a habitual offender.

But Jarrard will receive one day of credit for every six days served without incident, so he'll likely spend only 43 years in prison.
