Man, armed with knife, barricades self in home with toddler

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Fort Wayne Police had to talk down a man last night who barricaded himself in a home with a knife and a toddler.

Police were called to a home on Stony Run Lane near Northcrest Elementary School at about 11:22 last night for a domestic battery report. When they arrived, the found the female victim outside the home, saying the man who battered her was still inside the house, armed with a large knife, with her 2-year-old child.

Negotiators were eventually able to get him to come outside and surrender after several hours. He was taken to police headquarters for questioning.

The child was unharmed.
