FORT WAYNE Ind. (WOWO): A man has been charged in Allen County with robbery and shooting at a woman and her five children at a gas station.

18-year-old Roderick J. Patterson is accused of robbing two people the morning of September 14th and later, shooting at a woman who was trying to get his license plate number. Patterson fired two shots at the woman as well as her car, where her children were sitting. Police charged him with attempted robbery and carrying a handgun without a license.

Investigators say the woman was trying Patterson's plate number because she recognized him as a suspect who was once involved in a robbery at her home.

According to police reports, Patterson robbed a father and daughter in front of their home the same day. He later drove away and police were able to match the description of his car with the one at the gas station.
