Man killed in DeKalb County crash

ST. JOE, Ind. (WOWO): A man from Warren is dead following a single vehicle wreck between Spencerville and St. Joe early Saturday morning.

The crash happened around 3 a.m. Saturday morning on S.R. 1 north of C.R. 64. Dustin Reith, 28, was a passenger in a pickup truck.

The driver was speeding and went off the west side of the road, according to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department. It hit a guardrail, rolled, and then landed next to some brush.

Reith was ejected from the vehicle during the process. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, 31-year-old Benjamin Baker of Spencerville, suffered minor injuries. He’s also charged with leaving the scene of a vehicle accident causing death and criminal recklessness.
