FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A big mattress retailer with locations throughout northeast Indiana has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

Mattress Firm said in a press release today that it will close up to 700 stores in “certain markets”, specifically those where the company feels they have too many locations in close proximity to each other, as part of a restructuring plan that they say would allow them to continue to be the largest specialty mattress retailer in the nation.

There are four Mattress Firm locations in Fort Wayne, but it’s not yet known if any of them will be closing.
