MERCER COUNTY, Ohio. (WOWO) — Mercer County’s getting a boost in road safety. Sheriff Doug Timmerman says the department landed more than $54,000 in state grants to help target impaired driving and enforce highway safety.

Deputies will now have more patrol hours in high-risk areas, aiming to reduce fatal and serious crashes.

A simple reminder from the sheriff: seat belts on, phones down, and never drive under the influence.
