MI, (WOWO) — Lawmakers in Michigan are pushing a bill to crack down on drivers who lead police on dangerous chases.

The proposed legislation, currently under discussion in the House Judiciary Committee, would increase penalties significantly.

WSJM reports that offenders caught in a fourth-degree chase would face a minimum of 182 days in jail, while first-degree offenders could face at least five years behind bars.

The move aims to enhance public safety and deter reckless behavior on the roads.
