LANSING, MI. (WOWO) A 33-year-old Clinton Township man is in custody after Michigan State Police say he fired shots from a semi-truck at a family vehicle during a reported road rage incident in Monroe County.


Incident reported on US-23

According to a social media statement from Michigan State Police First District, troopers from the Monroe Post responded Saturday at approximately 7:42 p.m. to northbound US-23 at Mile Marker 20, south of Milan Township, following reports of a possible shooting.

Investigators say a 53-year-old Clinton Township man contacted Monroe County Central Dispatch while traveling in a 2012 Hyundai with five family members, reporting that a semi-truck driver had fired a handgun during an ongoing road rage incident.


Allegations from investigators

Michigan State Police say the victim reported that the semi-truck driver displayed a pistol while driving and fired in the direction of the family’s vehicle while continuing to follow them on the highway.

Troopers conducted an on-scene investigation following the report and located the suspect, identified as a 33-year-old Clinton Township man operating a 2019 Peterbilt semi-truck.


Arrest and current status

Authorities arrested the suspect following the investigation. He was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Monroe County Jail.

Officials have not released information regarding potential charges as of the latest update, and the investigation remains ongoing.
