Muncie Man Convicted of Neglect in Child’s Death

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) – Jurors have convicted a Muncie man of child neglect and other charges stemming from his wife's fatal abuse of her young Haitian cousin and beatings of her own younger siblings.

The Delaware County jury reached the verdicts Thursday night against 55-year-old Marcus Tabb. His wife, Charlene Tabb, was convicted of murder for 5-year-old Marie Pierre's June 2013 death.

The Star Press reports (http://tspne.ws/1078Qju ) prosecutors told jurors that Marcus Tabb knew about the abuse and did nothing to stop it.

Defense attorney Ross Thomas pointed out Tabb's testimony that he lived apart from his wife and didn't know what was happening.

Marcus Tabb's sentencing hearing is set for Dec. 1. Charlene Tabb is serving an 87-year prison sentence for her cousin's death and mistreatment of her 11-, 14- and 16-year-old siblings.
