FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A proposed mixed-use development for a parking lot just east of Headwaters Park got the thumbs up from festival operators Tuesday.

A meeting between Indy-based Barrett & Stokley, city officials, and festival-runners took place in downtown Fort Wayne over whether the newly-proposed project, which combines a parking garage, apartments, and retail space, would impact events like the Three Rivers Festival.

The Journal Gazette reports Project Supervisor Rex Barrett assured everyone that work at the site won’t start until well after that festival, and festival operators say a peaceful co-existence is possible.

Redevelopment Director Nancy Townsend says parking alternatives will be developed for any events that are affected.
