No Charges Filed in Melita Street Shooting

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO):  The investigation surrounding the shooting death of Ricardo Hood has been completed by the Fort Wayne Police Department and it was determined that this death was a result of self defense. Therefore no criminal charges will be filed.

 

Hood was shot by the owner of a home on the city’s south side, after he tried to burglarize the home.

Police got the call on October 6th, 2013, to Melita Street near Webster Street. When they arrived, officers found Hood unresponsive. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

 

The homeowner, who was the only person home at the time, shot Hood, who is believed to have acted alone.
