Officials Urging Hoosiers Away from Salamoine River Due to Diesel Spill

HUNTINGTON COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): Approximately 105 gallons of diesel fuel were released into the Salamonie River due to an early Friday morning crash. According to officials with the Huntington County Emergency Management Agency, crews have taken protective measures to contain the spill from moving downstream. However, they are urging the public to stay away from the river between the bridge at 900 South and the address of 8297 Bellville Road in Huntington County. This location is being monitored for any problems that may arise with the fish, wildlife, and vegetation.

Monitoring will likely continue throughout the weekend with a slight possibility of continuing into the beginning of next week.
