Ohio Man, 77, Sentenced to Prison for String of Break-Ins

TIFFIN, Ohio (AP) _ A 77-year-old man with a lengthy criminal record has been sentenced to prison for 11 break-ins committed in eight western Ohio counties last year.

The Blade newspaper (http://bit.ly/1Ju6i4E ) reports Judge David Faulkner sentenced Robert Tackett to more than 10 years behind bars on Tuesday in Seneca County Common Pleas Court.

The Lima man and 52-year-old Roger Hemry admitted breaking into bars, veterans’ clubs and fraternal lodges between May and Aug. 16, 2015, including locations in Putnam and Williams Counties. They pleaded guilty to breaking and entering, possession of criminal tools and related offenses.

Hemry was sentenced to more than four years in prison, and Tackett had asked for the same sentence. But Faulkner said Hemry had a limited criminal record and Tackett’s was among the longest he had seen in his career.
