Ohio wildlife agency opens deer hunting season

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP): The state is opening deer hunting with the annual archery season, followed by antlerless muzzleloader and youth guns seasons.

Deer hunters participating in the archery season that starts Saturday must have a valid Ohio hunting license and a valid deer permit.

The Department of Natural Resources says archers hunting during the statewide gun, youth gun and muzzleloader seasons must meet the hunter orange requirement.

The antlerless deer muzzleloader hunting season runs Oct. 11-12, and while it is legal to bow hunt during this weekend, no bucks may be killed regardless of weapon those two days.

All deer seasons run from 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes past sunset.

Ohio hunters checked 191,459 deer hunting season, including 85,561 bow hunted deer.
