One dead after industrial accident in Mercer County

MERCER COUNTY, Ohio (WOWO) – One man has died after an industrial accident at the Village of Mendon Utility Department.

Mercer County police were called to the scene, 340 East Market St., around 11:32 a.m Thursday.

Once there, police discovered Village of Mendon employee Brendan Poling, 49, had climbed inside the bed of a dump truck carrying salt. It appeared Poling slipped into the salt auger, where he was later discovered by another village employee.

Poling was pronounced dead at the scene.
