CRANE, Ind. (AP) – The U.S. Department of Labor has issuing 36 notices for unsafe working conditions following a March explosion and fire at a southern Indiana military base.
 
WTHR-TV reports that after the explosion at the Crane Army Ammunition Activity about 70 miles southwest of Indianapolis, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration found 34 “serious” violations with a “substantial probability that death or serious physical harm could result from a hazard” known to Crane.
 
Five workers were injured in the explosion and fire.
 
Crane Army Ammunition Activity spokesman Tom Peske says it began working with OSHA almost immediately after the explosion occurred and was briefed by OSHA on its findings a month ago.  He says that in areas where the base is not in compliance, it will make improvements.
