Parking Meter Rate Increase Starting Monday

FORT WAYNE, Ind (WOWO): The City of Fort Wayne’s downtown parking meter rate increase goes into effect Monday.

The hourly meter rate will be 50 cents instead of the previous quarter-per hour. The increase was recently approved by City Council. Fort Wayne’s nearly 700 parking meters are being re-programmed to reflect the new rates this weekend.

And here’s a tip, if you don’t feed the meter correctly, you could have to pay a fine.  Those rates are also going up too.  The fine for parking over the time limit at a metered space will increase from $5 to $10, with the fine increasing to $20 if the ticket is not paid within 30 days.
