FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Student athletes at some Fort Wayne Community Schools have a new way to stay hydrated.

Middle schools in the district are getting portable hydration carts for outdoor events. Parkview Sports Medicine donated the 11 carts.

“It is very important for students participating in outdoor sporting events to be properly hydrated,” said Tommy Schoegler, Director of Parkview Sports Medicine. “Keeping young athletes well-hydrated – especially in the heat – will not only promote a safe environment for sporting activities but a better athletic experience overall.”

Wheelin’ Water made the carts locally. The 20 gallon tanks have six nozzles with 5 feet of coiled hose each and are insulated to keep water colder for longer.
