Pistole Takes Over as Anderson University President

ANDERSON, Ind. (WOWO): The new President of Anderson University was officially welcomed into office Friday in a ceremony that included speeches from members of the school's board, state college officials, and even the director of the FBI.

John Pistole takes over as only the fifth president in the history of Anderson University in the schools almost 100-year history.

Pistole is an Anderson native and a graduate of the university that rose to several prominent positions in Washington D.C. In 2010 he was appointed the head of the TSA and in 2004 he was appointed to be the deputy director of the FBI to highlight a lengthy career with the agency.

He says his vision for the university comes back to pursuing excellence in all things.

As highlighted by the board president during his inauguration Anderson's history of lengthy presidential terms is fairly abnormal.

The average university president tenure across the nation is just seven years.
