Police Arrest 13 Suspects in Indianapolis Heroin Ring

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ A civilian Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department employee is among 13 people who have been arrested in a gang-related heroin ring on the city's northwest side.

Police arrested 11 of the 13 suspects at multiple locations on Tuesday and Wednesday, including Deangra Williams, who's accused of using her position at the police department to provide information to the Ponds Army. Officers also seized 35 guns, $15,000 in cash, heroin, cocaine, pills, six vehicles and a motorcycle.

The suspects face charges including conspiracy to distribute narcotics and conspiracy to provide firearms to serious violent felons.

Williams has been placed on leave without pay and could be fired. It wasn't immediately known if she has an attorney.

A warrant remains open for another suspect and police expect to make additional arrests in the case.
