Police Help Barricaded Man

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO):  Police were able to help a man who barricaded himself inside a home and reportedly threatened suicide.

Around 7:26 a.m. Saturday morning, police were called to the 2200 block of Cedarwood Way near Bluewater Trail and Covington Road after a man was making suicide threats.  Officers tried to talk to the man but he refused to leave the residence.  After several minutes of unsuccessful attempts, the officers called for the Emergency Services Team and Crisis Response Team.

Members of the Crisis Response Team were able to reach the man by phone, and a short time later he existed the house and surrendered to officers.  He was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.

The incident remains under investigation.
